The Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY is also riding with ICS, but at the moment, it’s just hanging on.
Sony Mobile is making sure that their only PlayStation smartphone does not fall off the trend of ICS. They have just released a functional ICS beta ROM. Keep that “beta” part in your head though since some needed services are yet to be available for the ICS beta ROM.
One of the missing pieces is access to Google’s services, like Gmail and the others. These are not yet available on the ICS beta ROM. The next is the Xperia PLAY’s Wi-Fi; the ICS beta ROM cannot support for it yet as of now.
With all those gone, what really is the reason for releasing this beta ROM? It’s for developers to be able to test their apps for compatibility with ICS on Xperia PLAY. If you’re interested on checking out the ICS beta ROM for Xperia Play, you can check it out here.
