What Is The Future For RIM? « Blackberry News « GiveMeMind

Research In Motion will have to re-think their strategy if they are to regain reputation and return back on the profit margin. For the first time in seven years RIM has lost money, $125m which is 25% down in revenue. In January, the resignation of the firm’s co-chief executives Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie came at a time when shareholders demanded a significant change at the top, there needed to be a major re-shuffle at RIM if they were to become a success again.

But with Android and Windows phones still in the competition it will be harder than ever to regain their target audience. The tablet market is mainly dominated by the Apple iPad, so, it makes us wonder if the Blackberry Playbook would stand a chance.

RIM is a very popular brand with their Blackberry curve 8520 phones proven popular with the teenagers in Europe, the BBM service (Blackberry Messenger) lets users message other Blackberry phones free of charge, it is a really fun and popular feature but only when it works. Blackberry phones a known on social media sites as “slow and cheap”.   

Will there ever be a strong market for RIM or will the company phase out?
