When iOS 6 touched down (the beta of-course), MuscleNerd the developer of Redsn0w – the popular jailbreak tool, released a special developer only version of Redsn0w to provide SSH and afc2 access to the device, so that developers could update their apps/tweaks for iOS 6.
Today, iOS 6 beta 3 was released and for that purpose Redsn0w has been updated yet again, with the capability to tether jailbreak your A4 devices. This will not install Cydia and you will have to “just boot” your device from Redsn0w every time you reboot or lose battery. Again, this is only for the A4 devices which are susceptible to geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit.
This version of Redsn0w will not hactivate, so you will have to register your device’s UDID to pass the activation screen. It is not recommended to pirate Apple’s software, so please don’t use this version if you aren’t a registered developer.
How to jailbreak:
- Connect your device
- Open Redsn0w
- Extras > Select IPSW > Point it to your device’s iOS 6 b3 IPSW file (this IPSW is provided only to the developers and Redsn0w will not fetch it for you)
- Head back to the first menu > Click Jailbreak > Follow the on screen instructions
Once you are done, this will add SSH access and afc2 to your device so that you can access and browse the file system.
You can go ahead and download Redsn0w 0.9.13dev3 from our downloads page.
