ICANN Hires New Chief Executive « Tech News « GiveMeMind

ICANN who are responsible for the global operation of the Internets web addresses have announced a new Chief Executive. Fadi Chehade has 25 years of experience working in the IT industry and has previously worked with computer giant IBM. He will replace Rod Beckstrom who has announced that he would step down on July 1.

The domain applications were revealed by the company a few weeks ago. The new suffixes is hoped to improve the “Next generation of creativity and inspiration”. The news of the move came just as the corporation faced criticism over its handling of new top level domains. Many critics stated that some of the domain name handling are unfair. Many companies and organizations fight to claim the same suffix, for example,Pepsi Co, The Coca-Cola Company and the Grocery Manufacturers of America have all applied for the ”.cola” suffix. This is just one of the issues the new CEO will face in the future.

Does a new CEO make a noticeable difference?
