MuscleNerd, hacker for iPhone Dev Team, has announced via twitter that he has made great progress on the 3G/3GS 6.15.00 baseband downgrade. This means that any user who upgraded to 6.15.00 for the unlock, can downgrade back to 5.13.04, which will allow for both an unlock via ultrasn0w and get your GPS working again.

Im a little foggy on the BB downgrade for the 3G/3GS. It says in @MuscleNerd’s tweet that it’s for owners who got officially unlocked. Isn’t a offical unlock a unlock by apple? If that’s the case a BB unlock is pointless since it will work with any sim card regardless of its BB. I have a unlocked 3GS done by Apple and it works with any sim card that I have put in it. My BB is 05.16.05 and all sim cards that I’ve ever put in it work no problem.
Could someone please clear this up for me? I’d really liked to know the answer.
What MuscleNerd wanted to say is that, this method is for those who are officially unlocked and don’t need 6.15.00 to be unlocked (referring to the AT&T unlock for out of contract phones). However this method will also work for other 3G/3GS’ too. People would like to downgrade to 5.13.04 once this is released since they can then keep their unlock as well as GPS intact. As far as you are concerned it is of no use to you since you are /officially/ unlock by carrier.
